Custom House and Silvertown
As these two places are in Docklands, have they both been Yuppified now then?

Both were always traditionally WHU strongholds, is that still the same or can't you move for Man U, Chelsea, Liverpoool etc (a bit like East Ham)?

Re: Custom House and Silvertown
silvertown has seen a lot of development and will continue to, especially with the big Silvertown Quays development. Custom House is a different story - lots of shit post war council housing and even with crossrail and the big Chinese development on the north of the docks, it'll likely stay pretty shit.

As far as I know, and how it was when I lived round there, it's only really the bits immediately by the docks and DLR etc that are actually getting any development, and the rest of the areas are still shitholes.

Freemasons Rd is still probably the #1 area of London I wouldn't want to walk around alone or at night.

Uncle Alan still lives there, spent many days playing with cousins back in the seventies.

Rudolph Hess famously said he knew the war was over when he first saw a P51 Mustang over Berlin.

About a year ago I saw a female jogger running along Star Lane and kind of felt the same. A woman running because she wants to instead of having to in Canning Town? What is the world coming to?

Never felt uneasy in East London, well not since my teenage years. Devons Road was always a bit of a hairy place when I was in my teens as was Wager Street. Ended up making a load of mates there and drinking in the Brit.

Used to work at Custom House, was a shithole then and still a shithole.

Think Silvertown is slightly different being under a lot of development and has been raised a bit particulary around thedocks and river. It's still got plenty of shit mixed in though, one of my old haunts The Graving Dock Tavern is now derelict.
